Sixty Glorious, Magical Years!

THE WHISPERS IN THE MAGIC FOREST tell me that there is a very special magic occasion being celebrated this week in the catacombs below Charing Cross Station in London. The word has it that Betty, grand daughter of the great Lewis Davenport, famed magician of centuries past and founder of one of the world’s greatest magic emporiums, is celebrating her 60 years in the magic business which she joined in 1948 alongside her father George “Gilly” Davenport.
It is a great achievement that has outlasted all the vagaries of commercial magic and show business for over one hundred years and today is fronted by her two sons, Bill Davenport and FISM award winner Roy Davenport.
Everyone who has ever stepped across the portals of “Davvys” and enjoyed their kindness and professionalism will I know congratulate Betty on her wonderful achievement.
