Staggering

Staggering, by John Derris, is a ring and cord routine with a difference. It is designed to be most effective when used close up and has an immediate wow factor that makes even tough audiences sit up and pay attention.

As with much good magic, you will need to develop patter to suit your own personalilty.

The full instructions for you to perform this amazing close up effect are provided, along with the secret gimmick that makes it all possible. Once you know the clever principle involved, you’ll be able to build a unique routine of your own that you can carry with you and perform without any preparation.

John Derris demonstrates the basic Staggering ring and cord routine:

EFFECT

The magician shows a simple cord and a solid ring.  Both are seen to be quite normal and yet the magician amazingly passes the ring on and off the cord without any cover whatsoever in an unexplainable way.

Finally he holds the cord in one hand and the ring in the other which is then thrown through the air only to mysteriously pass onto the cord. Staggering!

This has been a highlight of my table magic programme which I have performed extensively for the past ten years with considerable success. It’s good, visual, direct magic and can be repeated instantly when you move to another table.
